多くのメタルコアバンドが憧れるBLESSTHEFALLの東京公演に行ってきました。来日公演はScream out fest2016(ATTILA, MYKA RELOCATE, GET SCAREDなど海外バンドも出演 ) 出演以来8年ぶり。
久々の来日公演です。
BLESSTHEFALLは2018年に現時点で最後のアルバムとなっているHard feelingsを発表後、2019年にWitness発売10周年を記念したライブをツアーを発表。
その後パンデミックの影響でライブ活動は無くなり、オリジナルドラマーのMatt Traynorは2018年には脱退。
これからバンドはどうなるのか。気になっていましたが2023年の5月に5年ぶりの新曲となるWake the Deadを発表。
ヴォーカルのBeauのあの特徴的な伸びのある歌声とその安心を突き落とすようなサウンドにBLESSTHEFALLはこれからも活動してくれるととても安心しました。
バンドはその後Hollow Bodies発売10周年記念のライブをアメリカで開催。ソールドアウト続出となり好評なツアーとなりました。
そして、BLESSTHEFALL復活後の海外公演の1カ国目が日本となりました。ヨーロッパやオーストラリアではなくここ日本です。
日本ツアーも全公演ソールドアウト!! 東京公演はすぐに売り切れて後日追加公演を決定するほどの盛況ぶりでした。

さて私が行ったライブの日はツアー最終日。ライブハウスのキャパシティも約300人ほど。こんな近距離でBLESSTHEFALLを観れるのはすごい！
主催のT.M.MusicさんのBLESSTHEFALL関西国際空港到着のニュースを見てから、ずっとライブ当日前からソワソワして過ごしていました。
10年以上BLESSTHEFALLを聴いていましたが、私自身初めてのBLESSTHEFALLのライブということもあり、過去のアルバムを聴きながら数日後に生で聴けるぞと高まる気持ちをさらに高めていきました。
ライブハウスに到着後、VIPのチケットを買っていたためミートアンドグリートに参加。とてもフレンドリーに話しかけてもくれて楽しかったです。
VIPのラミネートパスとA4サイズのポスターもゲット。
優先入場のため、ライブ開始まで待機。
オープニングアクトのInFixからライブはスタート。初めて見ましたので何も予習なしでライブをチェック。いやーめちゃくちゃかっこよかったです。やっぱり実際にライブで見るって最高だなって思いました。InFixは何か私の感情に訴えかけてくるものがあったという表現の方が正しいのかもしれませんが、どのバンドより輝いて見えました。
その後、NOCTURNAL BLOODLUSTのライブが開始。
世界観が出来上がっていましたね。演奏も綺麗にまとまっており、お客さんをうまく巻き込んでライブをしていました。

私自身、10年以上BLESSTHEFALLのライブ映像をチェックしていたからでしょうね、ヴォーカルBeauのペットボトルの水をライブフロアにかけるあのシーンを見れただけで、もう感動しました 笑
ライブも盛り上がり、ベースのJared Warthの叫びも最高。 途中、2.0の時にマイク一本のみで叫んでいたあの姿は本当に良かった。セットリストを見るとBottom Fedderは2017年以来のライブ演奏だったそうです。Given by the flamesとBLESSTHEFALLのコラボも最高でした。
Hollow bodiesの再現ライブの予定だったそうですが、実際は色んなアルバムから曲を演奏してくれたグレイトヒッツな内容となりました。

BLESSTHEFALLは5月からメキシコなど廻るラテンアメリカツアーを開催します。
近距離でBLESSTHEFALLを体験したからか、そう聞くとBLESSTHEFALLが遠い存在に感じます。(実際は遠い存在ではありますが)
ここ日本でBLESSTHEFALLの貴重なライブを見れたこと、主催のT.M.MUSICさんに感謝します。この日は最高のメタルコアを体験できた日でした。T.M.MUSICさん主催のイベントは素晴らしいライブを提供してくれます。メタル好きな方はぜひフォローをお願いします。
I went to BLESSTHEFALL’s Tokyo concert in JAPAN!!
After releasing their latest album to date, “Hard Feelings,” in 2018, BLESSTHEFALL announced a tour in 2019 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of “Witness.”
However, live activities were halted due to the pandemic, and original drummer Matt Traynor left the band in 2018.
I was curious about the band’s future, but in May 2023, they released their first new song in five years, “Wake the Dead.”
With Beau’s distinctive, soaring vocals and their sound that plunges you into reassurance, I felt very relieved that BLESSTHEFALL will continue to be active.
Afterward, the band held a live concert in the US to commemorate the 10th anniversary of “Hollow Bodies,” which was met with sold-out shows and received favorable reviews.
And the first country for BLESSTHEFALL’s overseas tour after their comeback was Japan, not Europe or Australia.
The Japan tour was also completely sold out!! The Tokyo concert sold out quickly, leading to additional shows being added later due to its overwhelming popularity.

The concert venue has a capacity of about 300 people. It’s amazing to be able to see BLESSTHEFALL at such close range!
Since seeing the news of BLESSTHEFALL’s arrival at Kansai International Airport organized by T.M. Music, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the live concert day.
Upon arrival at the live house, I participated in the Meet and Greet since I had bought VIP tickets. It was enjoyable as they talked to us very friendly.
I also received a VIP laminate pass and an A4-sized poster.Also I got a autograph and took a picture with me.
I waited until the start of the live performance for priority entry.
The live started with the opening act, InFix. Since it was my first time seeing them, I checked out their live without any prior knowledge. Wow, they were really cool!!!
After that, NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST’s live performance began. Their playing was tightly cohesive, and they effectively engaged the audience in the live performance.
Finally, BLESSTHEFALL began their live performance. Perhaps because I had been checking out BLESSTHEFALL live videos for over 10 years, just seeing that scene of vocalist Beau pouring water from his water pet bottle onto the live floor was enough to move me, haha.
The live performance was also electrifying, and bassist Jared Warth’s screams were top-notch. Seeing him scream with just one microphone like he did during 2.0 was really something. It was great to see “Bottom Feeder” performed live for the first time since 2017 according to the setlist. The collaboration between Given by the Flames and BLESSTHEFALL was also fantastic.
It was originally planned as a reproduction live of “Hollow Bodies,” but in reality, they played a great hits setlist with songs from various albums.

BLESSTHEFALL will be holding a Latin American tour starting from May, including Mexico,CLE,ARGENTINA,BRAZIL!!
After experiencing BLESSTHEFALL up close, hearing about this tour makes BLESSTHEFALL feel like a distant entity. (Though they actually are distant in a literal sense.)
